RHIAN MOORE

Programs Manager | CAPE

Rhian Moore is the Programs Manager at CAPE, where she oversees pathway programs that champion Asian American and Pacific Islander diversity in entertainment such as the CAPE New Writers Fellowship and the CAPE Leaders Fellowship. Since joining in January 2021, she has helped launch the CAPE Animation Directors Accelerator and Julia S. Gouw Short Film Challenge in partnership with Janet Yang Productions.

Rhian is a second generation Burmese American from the San Gabriel Valley and graduated from Pomona College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, completing her undergraduate thesis on Burmese music in diaspora. While at Pomona, she worked at the Asian American Resource Center to spearhead events such as the Claremont Colleges’ first Southeast Asian Film Festival, which highlighted Southeast Asian refugee narratives. She also worked with the Saturday Tongan Education Program, an initiative that fosters growth in local Tongan and Pacific Islander youth through academic tutoring, cultural activities, and other concrete resources. Rhian’s exploration of Southeast Asian music and her work with the Inland Empire API community sparked a passion for promoting API representation in pop culture.

Rhian’s experience also includes a 2019 Fulbright U.S. Student grant in Ipoh, Malaysia. As a Fulbright Award recipient, she obtained a United States Embassy grant to host a statewide English camp centered around music education and performance for secondary school students. She has most recently worked at grassroots nonprofit organizations such as VietRISE in Orange County and the California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative in the Bay Area to promote Asian American political representation in the 2020 Census and Election.
