THE COALITION OF ASIAN PACIFICS IN ENTERTAINMENT ( CAPE) HONORS ACTOR GEORGE TAKEI AND FILMMAKER JUSTIN LIN AT GALA ANNIVERSARY

Influential Non-Profit Entertainment Organization Celebrates 15 Year Anniversary With A Gala Event On Dec. 4

LOS ANGELES (October 30, 2006) –The Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE), Inc., a non-profit arts organization, announced that actor George Takei ( STAR TREK) will receive the Pioneer Award and filmmaker Justin Lin (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT) will receive the New Horizon Award at CAPE's 15-year anniversary gala event, to be held December 4, 2006 at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Universal City, Calif.

In addition, the three co-founders of CAPE -- Wenda Fong, vice president of specials & alternative programming at  FOX Broadcasting Company; Fritz Friedman, senior vice president of worldwide publicity at Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment; and Chris Lee, president of Chris Lee Productions and executive producer of the blockbuster film SUPERMAN RETURNS -- will all receive honors.

"The accomplishments of our incredible honorees reflect the progress that CAPE has made in its 15 years of advancing diversity in the arts and entertainment, and the future that we all have to look forward to" said Adele Yoshioka and Jusak Yang-Bernhard, co-presidents of CAPE.  "We are honored to be associated with such courageous and talented artists and executives as George Takei, Justin Lin, Wenda Fong, Fritz Friedman and Chris Lee.  They have all contributed to the advancement of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the entertainment industry and are true inspirations."

All honorees are scheduled to appear at the gala celebration, which will feature entertainment and presentations from top Asian and Pacific Islander talent.  Comedian Alec Mapa is scheduled to host the event, and entertainers such as Gedde Watanabe (ER), Jennifer Paz (MISS SAIGON) and dancers from the hit FOX show SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE? are scheduled to perform, with more names to be announced in the coming weeks.

The 15 th anniversary gala will be directed by Gary Shimokawa and is co-chaired by CAPE Board of Directors Leo Chu (executive producer, MTV Networks, SpikeTV
& Comedy Central ), Dan Lin (senior vice president, Warner Bros.) and Laverne McKinnon (senior vice president, drama development, CBS) . Event sponsors include FOX, Warner Bros., Sony Entertainment, CBS and MTV Networks.

During the event, CAPE will present the winners and finalists of the 7th Annual CAPE Foundation New Writers Awards (CFNWA) in film and television writing. Previous winners of the prestigious award include filmmaker Alice Wu, whose 2005 feature film SAVING FACE (produced by CAPE Board of Advisor, Teddy Zee) premiered at the 2005 Toronto and Sundance Film Festivals and was distributed by Sony Pictures Classics.
