THE COALITION OF ASIAN PACIFICS IN ENTERTAINMENT (CAPE)
AND FOX ENTERTAINMENT GROUP PROUDLY ANNOUNCE FINALISTS FOR THE CAPE FOUNDATION 2007 NEW WRITERS AWARDS

Winners Receive Cash and Major Exclusive Entertainment Opportunities

LOS ANGELES (August 1, 2007) –  With submissions not only from all over the country, but all over the world including Canada, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore, the highly anticipated announcement of the winners of the CAPE Foundation 2007 New Writers Awards, sponsored by the Fox Entertainment Group, for Feature Film & Television  will take place at the Staged Reading for the winning recipients to be held at Culver Studios’ Ince Theatre on August 14, 2007. Winners of the CAPE Foundation 2007 New Writers Awards each receive a cash prize of $4,000 (U.S.), the latest Final Draft Professional Script Writing Software and a staged reading of their script, in addition to opportunities to meet and/or pitch to established entertainment executives.

  • THE OFFICE: “IQ TEST” by Chan Nguyen

Past 2006 winner of the Feature Film Writing Award is Harvard and USC Film School graduate, Young Il Kim for his script HYUNG’S OVERTURE which also won the 2006 Bluecat Screenplay Competition and was selected into the Film Independent’s 2005 Screenwriters Lab.  Past 2006 winner of the Television Writing Award was the award-winning and published writer Lucy Wang for her script titled WITHOUT A TRACE: “BORN AGAIN”.

Co-Chairs of the 2007 CFNWA are Literary Manager Angela Cheng Caplan and Writer/Executive Producer for SpikeTV/MTV Networks Leo Chu.  The awards are coordinated by Jessica Tscha.

CAPE’s Board of Advisors include distinguished executives and artists such as Ang Lee, John Woo, Terence Chang, Dean Devlin, Warrington Hudlin, David Henry Hwang, Lou Diamond Phillips, Richard Sakai, B.D. Wong, Chris Lee, Fritz Friedman, Janet Yang and Teddy Zee.
