Dan Lin CEO, Lin Pictures
DAN LIN is the CEO of Lin Pictures, a filmed entertainment production company that he formed in January 2008. Lin Pictures is based at Warner Bros., where it has a production deal with both Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema. Its primary focus is producing event films and television shows for a global audience. Since his company’s formation, Lin has produced films that have grossed over $975M in worldwide box office.
Lin is currently in production “Sherlock Holmes 2,” directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Robert Downey Jr. Last year, Lin produced the first “Sherlock Holmes”; “Invention of Lying,” directed by Ricky Gervais and Matthew Robinson and starring Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner; and “The Box,” directed by Richard Kelly and starring Cameron Diaz. He also executive produced “Terminator Salvation,” directed by McG and starring Christian Bale; and “Shorts” directed by Robert Rodriguez. Current projects in development include “The Gangster Squad,” “The Lego Movie,” “Godzilla,” and “Spy Hunter.”
In September 2008, Lin was honored as one of Variety’s “10 Producers to Watch.” Earlier in 2005, he was profiled on the Hollywood Reporter’s “Next Generation List.”
Prior to forming Lin Pictures, Lin served as Senior Vice President of Production for Warner Bros. Pictures until December 2007. While at Warners, he oversaw the development and production of the Academy Award-winning film “The Departed,” directed by Martin Scorsese. Other films Lin oversaw include “10,000 BC,” directed by Roland Emmerich; “The Aviator,” directed by Martin Scorsese; “TMNT”; “Invasion”; “Unaccompanied Minors”; “Alexander”; “Scooby-Doo 2”; and “Torque.”
Lin received his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1994 and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1999.
