Winners receive (i) a $4000.00 cash prize, (ii) writing software and (iii) an opportunity to pitch their winning script to a select group of entertainment executives. In addition, staged readings of the winning screenplay have been performed.
Submissions for the 9th Annual CAPE Foundation New Writers Awards begins January 15, 2008. Deadline for entries must be postmarked by Friday, May 30, 2008. Winners will be announced in August.
The New Writers Award offers aspiring Asian Pacific writers the opportunity to gain exposure among studio executives, producers, and agents and managers. Previous winner Alice Wu’s honored script SAVING FACE produced by Board of Advisor Teddy Zee, picked up for distribution by Sony Pictures Classics and premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.
